At Allied Health Centre, our Speech Pathology team specialises in assessing, diagnosing, intervening, and managing communication and swallowing difficulties.
We assist individuals who face communication challenges due to conditions such as developmental disorders, brain injuries, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, dementia, and hearing loss. We aim to improve communication and swallowing to enhance independence and quality of life, allowing clients to live fully.
We offer a comprehensive range of services, including:
Enhancing receptive, expressive, or pragmatic language skills.
Addressing motor speech disorders such as dysarthria and apraxia and improving articulation and speech clarity.
Supporting individuals with fluency disorders.
Managing functional voice disorders.
Utilising tools such as iPads, dedicated speech-generating devices, Picture Exchange Communication Systems, and signing.
Improving reading, writing, and phonological awareness.
During your first appointment, our healthcare professional will conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand your specific needs and health goals. This may involve discussing your medical history, lifestyle, and any concerns you may have. Based on this assessment, a personalized care plan will be developed to help you achieve the best possible outcomes.
While a referral is not always required to see our allied health specialists, having one can help provide better continuity of care, especially if you have been referred by your GP or another healthcare provider. Some services may require a referral for certain Medicare or insurance claims, so it’s best to check with us beforehand.
Many of our services may be eligible for rebates or coverage through Medicare, NDIS, or private health insurance, depending on your situation and policy.
